1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Chronicles are the Scriptures that record the faith and history of the people of Israel, our ancestors in the faith—that is, of the kings of south and north. As it says, “Are they not written in the book of the chronicles” (1 Kings 16:5), they set down how the kings of the people who believed in God lived. So when we read these Scriptures, we can gain lessons about what we must learn, what we must avoid, and what we must believe.
