1 Kings chapter 17 records how, in the age when Ahab and Jezebel were spreading Baal worship, Elijah appeared and proclaimed a drought, experienced God’s provision at the Brook Cherith and at Zarephath, and brought the dead son of the widow back to life. This chapter shows that the One who rules over rain and food and life is not Baal but the living God, and that when we believe and follow the Word of God, that Word is fulfilled just as it is.
