God tells us what the curse from heaven is that came upon Jeroboam and his descendants. Let us look together at the words of chapter 14, verses 7 to 14. This word was spoken to Jeroboam’s wife, saying that God would put Jeroboam’s child to death and would put to death whoever belonged to Jeroboam. This was the wrath of God toward Jeroboam and those who belonged to him. Why was God so angry with Jeroboam? Because he exchanged God for golden calves and provoked the wrath of God. Even today God warns that He will bring wrath upon those who serve a golden calf as God, but they hear that warning and still refuse to turn back. Yet if they do not turn from that sin, God is the One who actually fulfills the words of curse He spoke to Jeroboam.
